Augustus; 27 BC-14 AD, Antiochia ad Orontem, Seleucis and Pieria, Year 29 Actian Era and Cos 12 = Oct.-Dec. 3 BC, Tetradrachm, 15.47g. RPC-4154 (2 spec., 1 obv. die), pl. 158 (same obv. die); Prieur-53 (3 spec., the ill. spec. from the same dies as ours); McAlee-183 (V. Rare, his spec. from the same obv. die). Obv: ???S???S S? - ??S??V from upper right. Laureate head of Augustus r.; fillet border. Rx: ???VS - TK - ????S Tyche seated r. on rock, holding palm branch; below, river-god Orontes swimming r.; in field below palm-branch, monogram Y?A/IB and ANT monogram. Very rare date: all known specimens come from the same obverse die, which then continued to be used in the next issue dated Cos 13.Exquisite portrait. EF
